Let My Heart and My Body Be is a short film created for Gemma Gwen armes, capturing a unique sober rave held inside the Ilkon Building in Ilkeston — a former church now home to creativity and community. With dancers moving freely through silent disco headphones beneath the stained-glass image of Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, the space became a sanctuary for expression and release.
Through intimate reflections, participants share how the experience shifted them, from arriving “a bit sticky” to feeling their energy transformed, to feeling “quenched” after not dancing for a long time. The film celebrates movement, connection, and the simple power of letting the body speak.
